The National Association of Women Business Owners in Richmond awarded University of Richmond junior Virginia Myers the Student Entrepreneur Award. Myers was honored for her iPhone app ROVE and her foodie Instagram account, Eatstagrama, which she has turned into a thriving business. Myers is majoring in business administration with concentrations in marketing and management on the innovation and entrepreneurship track.

“I am a huge foodie and tech lover, which led me to start two businesses,” Myers said.

Myers developed ROVE in March 2015 as a social-media based location service that allows users to explore the area around them. All content is user generated and aims to give people real-time information about what events are happening around them. ROVE encourages spontaneity and inspires people to explore popular food locations and events near them.

In April 2014, Myers created Eatstagrama as a food-focused Instagram account for food enthusiasts. It has since grown into a flourishing business with more than 12,000 followers. Myers is currently working to develop a website to feature blog posts containing recipe suggestions, promotional posts and travel experiences. Her goal is for Eatstagrama to be the “go-to” for all things food and travel.

The Student Entrepreneur of the Year award recognizes a female student who is an innovator, developer and leader; demonstrates a personal commitment to community involvement and has good academic standing.
