Harvard Divinity School professor to give annual Weinstein-Rosenthal Lecture at University of Richmond

Jon D. Levenson, scholar and author of 11 books about Jewish theology and Jewish-Christian relations, will present the 23rd annual Weinstein-Rosenthal Lecture Nov. 9 at the University of Richmond.
His talk, "The Binding of Isaac and the Crucifixion of Jesus," will be held at 8 p.m. in Jepson Alumni Center's Robins Pavilion. The talk is free and open to the public, and a reception will follow.
Levenson is Albert A. List Professor of Jewish Studies at Harvard Divinity School. His research and teaching focus on theological traditions in ancient Israel, literary interpretations of the Hebrew Bible, the history of Jewish Biblical interpretation and modern Jewish theology. His books include Resurrection: The Power of God for Christians and Jews and Resurrection and the Restoration of Israel: The Ultimate Victory of the God of Life, which won both a National Jewish Book Award and the Biblical Archaeology Society Publication Award. His articles have been published in leading academic journals.
Levenson has a passion for both the academic integrity of his discipline and its application to Jewish-Christian relations and dialogue. He has been invited to lead discussions for churches, synagogues, clergy and rabbinical associations, and academic institutions.
