International education professional is new associate dean

Joseph G. Hoff has joined the University of Richmond as associate dean of international education.

Hoff will be responsible for operations of the Office of International Education, expansion of more than 60 existing university exchange programs abroad, assessment of the university’s study abroad programs and services for international students and scholars, and other aspects of Richmond’s extensive and integrated approach to international education.

Hoff holds an M.A. degree in Spanish from St. Louis University, a master of international administration from the School for International Training, and a Ph.D. in comparative and international development education from the University of Minnesota. Prior to coming to Richmond, Hoff was director of the International Degree and Education Abroad Office at Oregon State University and assistant director of international programs at Brown University.

“Joe Hoff is a highly respected and experienced professional in the field of international education, with a national reputation resulting not only from his work at Brown, Minnesota and Oregon, but also from his contributions to NAFSA: Association of International Educators,” said Uliana Gabara, dean of international education.
