George Mason assistant professor Mark C. Hopson gives talk "Lessons from the Talking Drum" Sept. 29

Mark C. Hopson, assistant professor of communication at George Mason University will give a talk “Lessons from the Talking Drum: Exploring the Critical Memory in Black Communication and Intercultural Communication Research” on Monday, September 29 at 2 p.m. in Weinstein Hall’s Brown-Alley Room.

Hopson earned his Ph.D. in intercultural communication and rhetorical theory at Ohio University’s School of Communication Studies. He researches intercultural communication; African American rhetorical traditions; organizational communication; race, culture and gender studies; communication theory; the communication of sexual assault, sexual harassment, relationship abuse and violence prevention education; diversity, multiculturalism and anti-racism dialogue; media and critical communication; and studies in transformational leadership.

This talk is sponsored by the Department of Rhetoric and Communication Studies. Hopson’s lecture is open to the university community and refreshments will be served.
