Dean Narduzzi and President Ayers publish article on 'intergenerational learning'
Dr. James L. Narduzzi, dean of the School of Continuing Studies, and Dr. Edward L. Ayers, president of the University of Richmond, have published an article in the Fall 2009 issue of Continuing Higher Education Review.
In the article “Intergenerational Learning: Beyond the Jargon”, Narduzzi and Ayers discuss the benefits of intergenerational learning (combining traditional college-age students and adult students) in the traditional classroom.
The article presents a vision of intergenerational learning as an institutional goal and suggests strategies for achieving that goal.
Narduzzi and Ayers introduce the article as follows: “At the University of Richmond, our vision of intergenerational learning is one where adult students share the college classroom with traditional-aged students, and cross-school collaboration is a central tenet of the learning experience for all students. What follows is a presentation of why we are making it part of our institutional strategy, and some of the challenges we foresee in our efforts to create a meaningful and unique learning environment.”
