Kitchen receives NASA funding for proposal
Dr. David Kitchen, associate dean and director of summer programs in the School of Continuing Studies, has received funding from NASA for a proposal titled "Creation and Dissemination of an Interdisciplinary Undergraduate General Education Course on Climate Change."
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration funded the proposal in the amount of $149,500.
Phase I of the proposal involves representatives from six institutions (Florida A&M University, Unity College, University of California Davis, University of Nevada Las Vegas, University of Richmond, and University of Texas at El Paso) who will develop a robust curricular package for a general education course on climate change.
Phase II of the proposal enlists fourteen additional institutions to teach the material, adapted for their interests and expertise, that was developed in Phase I.
Dr. Kitchen will spearhead contributions from the University of Richmond.
