Parking Services provides information for SCS students

Parking Permit imageUniversity Parking Services has provided the following guidelines and instructions for SCS students who wish to park on campus.

Registration Form and Fee

All vehicles on campus must be registered with Parking Services and have a current parking permit.
  • Vehicles must be reregistered at the beginning of each new school year in August.
  • The registration fee is $30.00 and will be transferred to your student account at the Bursar's Office following the vehicle's registration.
  • Students may register as many as three vehicles each school year, although only one should be on campus at any given time. There is no fee for registering a second or third vehicle.
  • Students may also request a temporary parking pass for vehicles that will be on campus for four or fewer weeks.

Rules and Regulations

The Parking Services rules and regulations are given to you when you register your vehicle.

  • A parking map of campus is included so you can find the correct parking lots.
  • All of our rules and regulations can also be found on the Parking Services Website.
  • Changes and/or updates will be announced through SpiderBytes.

Places to Park – and Not to Park

Because of the construction on the Richmond Campus the C-lots off Gateway Road and Ryland Circle will have limited parking spaces.

  • SCS student vehicles will be allowed to park in the X-lot next to the Robins Center.
  • If you are unable to find legal parking space in the C-lots, X-lot will be your next alternative parking area.

As a registered student, you are not considered a visitor on campus at any time and are not allowed to park in visitor lots.

  • After 5:00 pm and on weekends you are allowed to park in faculty/staff lots with the exception of the police parking lot next to the Special Programs Building and the faculty/staff spaces in W-lot.
  • SCS students are never allowed to park in resident student lots.

Students taking the classes in North Court may park in the Modlin Center for the Arts parking lot located at the end of Crenshaw Way.

  • The Alumni Center parking lot is reserved for invited guests of the Center; student vehicles are not allowed to park in this lot.
  • Consider parking in the Modlin Center parking lot or one of the faculty/staff lots off Westhampton Way.

Citations

If you park in a lot other than your assigned lot you will receive a parking citation.

  • Fines range from $30.00 to $100.00 depending on the violation.
  • Students may appeal their citations to the Student Appeal Board by going online to the Parking Services' Website and filling out the parking appeal form.

Special Circumstances

The Parking Services office understands that sometimes there are special circumstances that require students to park in student lots besides their own.

  • If you need special permission to park in another lot you must contact Parking Services at 804-289-8703 and ask to be put on the Prior Arrangement list.
  • You must speak with an employee of Parking Services and receive permission, not just leave a voicemail. Our office is open on weekdays from 8:30 am until 4:00 pm.
  • You can also e-mail our office at parking@richmond.edu to request a Prior Arrangement, but you must receive an e-mail from us granting permission before parking in another student lot.
