One of my favorite movies is “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” not solely because it sort of reminds me of my “zealous” family but because the theme of family is interwoven throughout the script no matter how busy the lives are of the individuals in the movie.  The MBA Leadership Council strives to do just that – to marry our own busy lives with that of our MBA family by providing different venues and networking opportunities to appeal to our classmates, faculty, alumni and other groups.  Over the past few months the Leadership Council has held a mixer with the law school students, held socials at local restaurants, offered food prior to classes and reached out to our alumni chapter.  Later this month, we will be enjoying Kings Dominion Halloween Haunts for those that enjoy the autumn season, rides and haunted houses.  All these events are geared toward enhancing our learning experiences and making those life-long bonds that we treasure.  Further, the MBA Leadership Council is constantly in contact with the Robins School of Business staff and faculty to ensure we create synergies between the business school and the needs of our MBA’ers.  The University is offering several terrific programs such as the “Glimpse inside” series, an MBA resume writing workshop and opportunities to attend speaking engagements.  On November 13th the MBA Council invites our MBA students to show their school pride by attending a football tailgate at Millheiser Green.  Other ideas in the works are a basketball tailgate, a ropes course event, mixers with MBA alumni and perhaps attending shows at the Modlin Center.  We are eager to hear other student, faculty and alumni ideas and look forward to creating our own “Big Fat MBA Family of Events.”
