Representatives of the Global Health Club and other student organizations have been working since last fall to raise campus awareness around global hunger issues. Their education and fundraising efforts culminated in a three-hour meal-packing event in which over 100 people came out to assemble 20,000 meals that will be shipped to India.

Students spearheaded the event after learning that adjunct business faculty member Robert Maddux, B'78, was working with Stop Hunger Now and Richmond community organizations to pack 143,000 meals — a goal that he reached after the UR event. The meals are destined for the school and orphanage of New Hope Children's Home in India. Maddux sits on the orphanage's board.
