Thursday, October 24, 12 noon – 1 pm

How Our World Shapes Our Health: Dr. Camilla Nonterah, Assistant Professor of Health Psychology, will address how the social, economic and physical environment in which an individual lives influences their health and well-being. This talk will focus on how the social determinants of health, such as experiences of racism and discrimination, geographical residence, and policies that disenfranchise certain groups, influence the health of people of color. The talk will end with a discussion of protective factors against the deleterious effects of social stressors, and ways to reduce health disparities.
