Ernesto Semán argues against comparisons of President Trump and Juan Perón

February 20, 2018

In a Washington Post editorial, Ernesto Semán, assistant professor of leadership studies, argues that Democrats' comparisons of President Trump and Juan Perón show a misunderstanding of Peronism.

"Like so many familiar historical cliches, however, this one is incomplete, if not downright wrong. It ignores that the core of Peronism was a vision that is the exact opposite of Trumpism," writes Semán.

Semán is the author of Ambassadors of the Working Class: Argentina's International Labor Activists and Cold War Democracy in the Americas, published in 2017 by Duke University Press. At the Jepson School, he teaches Leadership and the Humanities, as well as courses with international and cultural-historical contexts.
