SPCS welcomes Dana Jackson in new role in Education, Tracy Nicholson as HRM program chair

The University of Richmond School of Professional & Continuing Studies welcomes two new full-time faculty members: Dr. Dana Jackson joins SPCS as Assistant Professor of Education and Director of Clinical Practice, Educational Leadership & Policy Studies, and Dr. Tracy Nicholson joins SPCS as Assistant Professor and Chair of Human Resource Management.

Both Jackson and Nicholson started their new roles in SPCS on August 1, 2020.

Jackson teaches graduate and undergraduate classes and partners with many school divisions throughout the region to promote and facilitate leadership development in Pre K-12 schools. Prior to her role in higher education, Jackson served Hanover County Public Schools as a classroom teacher, assistant principal, and principal. Her professional experience and interests include educational leadership, collaboration, data analysis for instructional decision making, equity, and organizational development.

Jackson earned a bachelor of arts (B.A.) in English language and literature, a master of teaching (M.T.) in elementary education and an education specialist degree (Ed.S.) in administration and supervision at the University of Virginia. She earned a doctorate (Ed.D.) at Virginia Tech.

Her husband, Daryl Jackson, C’16, also joins the SPCS adjunct faculty in fall 2020 as adjunct instructor of Information Systems.

Nicholson teaches graduate classes and serves as chair of the human resource management program. Her scholarship interests are focused on human resource management, public and nonprofit management, and organization theory. Prior to her teaching role in higher education, Nicholson served in HR leadership roles in higher education, state and local government and as a program evaluator and employment coach in community-based nonprofit organizations.

Nicholson earned a bachelor of science (B.S.) in accounting at Hampton University, a master of arts (M.A.) in human resource development at The George Washington University and a doctorate (Ph.D.) in public affairs at the University of Texas - Dallas.

Both Jackson and Nicholson were invited to join the faculty of the School following national searches.
