An Enriching Partnership for CLE and Local School Leaders

Celebrations abound for the Center for Leadership in Education (CLE) and local current and aspiring school leaders with the conclusion of the 17th Next Generation Leadership Academy (NGLA) on Wednesday, March 23.

A partnership with eight local school divisions, 52 participants from the counties of Amelia, Caroline, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, Powhatan and the City of Richmond, enjoyed a yearlong exploration of many engaging and relevant topics including:

  • “Eyes on Leadership” with Dr. Michelle McQueen-Williams
  • “A Dive into Educational Leadership” with Dr. Kim Bridges
  • “Trauma Sensitive Practices and Schools” with Dr. Erik Laursen
  • “Coaching for Sustainable Change and Growth” with Dr. Kate Cassada
  • “Emotional Intelligence” with Dr. Michelle Beavers

As a special culmination, participants also gained valuable insights from several division leaders including superintendents, assistant superintendents, directors, and coordinators during an unconference model, panel discussion, and celebratory luncheon.

We remain grateful for these rich, lasting partnerships and celebrate the impact our NGLA graduates have on their schools, divisions, and throughout the region! NGLA was founded in 2005 by Dr. Tom Shields and Dr. Dana Jackson serves as the NGLA Coordinator.
