SPCS celebrates SPCS Student Week Feb. 27–March 4

February 27, 2023

SPCS Student Week

The School of Professional & Continuing Studies proudly celebrates our students during SPCS Student Week February 27–March 4, an event held every fall and spring semester.

SPCS Student Week is a joint project of the Student Government Association (SGA), Alumni Association and the staff of the Marketing & Engagement team. We observe SPCS Student Week as an outreach and engagement effort to connect with, encourage and motivate our students.

The celebration originated in Nontraditional Student Week, an annual event celebrated nationally by the Association for Nontraditional Students in Higher Education (ANTSHE). Rather than once a year, SPCS extended the celebration to include fall and spring events.

Every SPCS Student Week is a little different. This year, in conjunction with our 60th anniversary celebration, we’re hosting a Community Conversation during the week. The conversation, titled “The Future-Ready Workforce: Implications for Employers, Employees & Institutions of Higher Education,” focuses on the connection between continuing education and the workplace.

We’re also encouraging degree-seeking students this week to nominate one deserving graduating student and one deserving adjunct professor for Commencement awards. These are the only two Commencement awards that students nominate, and we encourage every eligible student to submit nominations.

Here’s a summary of this year’s celebration activities and events:

  • Through March 8: Nominations for Student Service and Adjunct Faculty Commencement awards
  • February 27 & March 1-2: Slices & Snacks outside North Court & Jepson (weather permitting)
  • February 28: SPCS Community Conversation on the Future-Ready Workplace
  • March 1: Career Services event on Searching for Jobs & Internships
  • March 1: Modlin Center performance of “Ashwini Ramaswamy, Let the Crows Come”
  • Ongoing: Video & digital Shout-Outs from faculty, staff & alums
  • Ongoing: University Museum exhibits
