April 12, 2023

Next Generation Leadership Academy (NGLA)

The Center for Leadership in Education is thrilled to announce the conclusion of its 18th Next Generation Leadership Academy on Wednesday, March 22. In partnership with several regional school divisions, forty current and aspiring leaders from the counties of Amelia, Caroline, Chesterfield, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, and the City of Richmond successfully completed this yearlong leadership exploration.

Monthly session themes included the following:

  • Leading from the Front with Dr. Michelle McQueen-Williams of Virginia Union University
  • A Dive into Educational Leadership with Dr. Kim Bridges, GC’13, of Virginia Commonwealth University
  • Trauma Responsive Leadership with Dr. Erik Laursen of the University of Richmond
  • Coaching and Communication to Promote Change and Growth with Dr. Dana Jackson and Dr. Kate Cassada of the University of Richmond
  • Supporting High Quality Instruction Through Literacy Leadership with Dr. Sarah Tanner-Anderson of Longwood University

As a culminating activity, participants learned more about A Vision for the Next Generation of Virginia Leaders with Dr. David Myers, followed by an unconference on hot topics and a celebratory luncheon. We remain grateful for these rich, lasting partnerships and celebrate the impact our NGLA graduates have on their schools and divisions as they serve teachers, children, and families throughout the region!
