Aubrey Layne, Virginia's secretary of transportation, to speak Feb. 10 about transportation sector and its future

Secretary of Transportation Aubrey Layne, B’79, will speak at the University of Richmond on Feb. 10, 6-7 p.m., in the Robins School of Business’ Queally Hall, Ukrop Auditorium. This event and following reception is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

Layne will speak on the transportation sector and the McAuliffe administration's vision for transportation in Virginia during the next several years.

Prior to his current appointment, Layne served as president of An Achievable Dream Academy in Newport News, a partnership between public schools and local businesses that provides at-risk students with opportunities to succeed. 

Layne graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the Robins School of Business in 1979 and begin his career as a certified public accountant at KPMG. In 1997, he earned an M.B.A. with a concentration in international business from Old Dominion University, and then went on to complete the University of Virginia's Sorensen Institute for Political Leaders program in 2011.
