University of Richmond names vice president for Enrollment Management

University of Richmond has announced the appointment of Stephanie Dupaul as the University’s next vice president for Enrollment Management, effective July 13.

Dupaul currently serves as the associate provost for Enrollment Management at Southern Methodist University. In this role she provides strategy and leadership for SMU’s enrollment management and oversees the Division of Enrollment Services, which includes the offices of Undergraduate Admission, Financial Aid, Registrar, Enrollment Resources, and Student Financials. She is also responsible for Summer Programs.

At Richmond, she will oversee the Enrollment Management division, which includes the Office of Undergraduate Admission; the Financial Aid Office, which oversees financial aid and student employment for students in all five schools; and the Richmond Scholars Program.   

Through the use of sophisticated recruitment and financial aid strategies, Dupaul has led SMU to enroll the most diverse and academically accomplished entering classes in its history. She also has built strong relationships with guidance counselors within Texas and across the country to enhance SMU’s reputation among the nation’s most diverse and high-achieving students.

Crutcher. “These achievements — and the strong Enrollment Management team in place at Richmond —helped ensure our ability to attract outstanding candidates for this position.” 

Dupaul was drawn to University of Richmond because of its focus on access and affordability. “As the demographics for higher education continue to shift, this focus will be central to continuing a positive enrollment trajectory and to ensuring that all students – regardless of socioeconomic background – have access to a remarkable education like Richmond provides,” she said.

Before being asked to lead the Enrollment Services division at SMU, she served as director of Undergraduate Admission for the Cox School of Business, where she was twice honored with the outstanding staff award. Prior to that, she was assistant director of MBA admissions at the University of Dallas and was an academic advisor at Brookhaven College in the Dallas County Community College District.

A native Floridian, Dupaul earned a doctorate in higher education administration and leadership at the University of Alabama, a master’s degree in English at SMU, and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Texas at Austin. She has served in leadership positions with the Enrollment Planning Network and National Academic Advising association, and currently serves on the College Board Higher Education Advisory Group.
