Darien native interns with real estate agent Ryan Serhant of Bravo's 'Million Dollar Listing NY' though UR summer fellowship

Charlett J. Stevenson, ’16, of Darien, Conn., is interning this summer with real estate agent Ryan Serhant, one of the stars of Bravo’s show “Million Dollar Listing New York.” Stevenson is working for The Serhant Team, which sells residential real estate in New York City as part of Nestseeker International.

Stevenson is a business administration major with a double concentration in marketing and finance in Richmond’s Robins School of Business. She is also a member of the Richmond Spiders women’s lacrosse team. She says this internship experience has inspired her to pursue a career in real estate.

“Working for this team has opened the doors for me into the real estate world and helped me find my passion,” Stevenson said. “Each day I perform different tasks helping out agents in the office, and I’m getting real, hands on experience in this industry.”

Stevenson does everything from organizing open houses for listings to helping with events. She admits the glitz and glamour surrounding Serhant and his team is also a lot of fun. “One of the cooler things I’ve done is help Ryan personally with a show he is going to be featured in on CNBC,” she said.

Stevenson says she secured this internship by networking, researching and taking a chance and applying. She also applied to receive funding through a UR summer fellowship.

This summer, hundreds of UR students are completing summer fellowships through The Richmond Guarantee, a University promise to provide access to fellowship funding for one summer research or internship experience for all traditional undergraduate students.

“Without my URSF fellowship, I would not have been able to take an unpaid internship in such an expensive city,” Stevenson said. “I think the URSF program provides UR students a chance to discover themselves and gives them the opportunity to go out of their comfort zone and experience things that will shape their future.”
