Three University of Richmond leaders are 'RTD Person of the Year' honorees

The Richmond Times-Dispatch honored three University of Richmond campus and community leaders during the annual “RTD Person of the Year” event, held Dec. 9.

Edward L. Ayers, UR president emeritus and noted historian, was nominated in large part for his work with events commemorating the sesquicentennial of the Civil War’s end. Ayers was among the “Top 10” for person of the year honor, applauded for his ability to connect the past to the present.

John Moeser, senior fellow with the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement, was a person of year honoree. Moeser was celebrated for his commitment to making poverty a regional priority.

Jamelle Wilson, dean of the School of Professional and Continuing Studies, was also honored for her role as an education administrator. Prior to becoming the SPCS dean this summer, Wilson served as superintendent for Hanover County Schools, which thrived under her leadership.

The Richmond 2015 team that brought the UCI Road World Championship to Richmond was awarded the top honor for RTD Person of the Year. Read more in the Richmond Times-Dispatch.
