Amanda Kleintop, a University of Richmond junior from Ambler, Pa., has been selected for the summer History Scholars Program by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.

Kleintop will join 29 other college students from around the country for a week of intensive study in New York exploring the city’s historic sites and museums, participating in discussions of major issues in American history and hearing about careers related to history.

The program will pay for Kleintop’s travel, attendance at lectures and field trips in New York.

The institute conducts the History Scholars Program to encourage promising college students to pursue study and professional work in the field of history. Only 225 students have been selected to attend the program since its launch in 2003.
