University of Richmond President Ronald A. Crutcher Selected for Two National Higher Education Councils

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND — Ronald A. Crutcher, University of Richmond president, has been selected to two national higher education councils.

Crutcher, who has served as UR’s president since 2015, is a national leader in higher education. He will join the American Council on Education’s Board of Directors as the organization’s vice chair. ACE is the major coordinating body for U.S. colleges. He has served on the ACE Board for the past four years and on its Executive Committee for the past three years.  

Crutcher was also selected to serve on the Heterodox Academy’s Advisory Council. HxA is committed to improving education by promoting open inquiry, viewpoint diversity, and constructive disagreement in institutions of higher learning. The advisory council is comprised of higher-education leaders and public intellectuals who have chosen to stand with HxA to offer support and guidance in its mission.

Throughout his career, Crutcher has actively promoted access, affordability, and inclusive excellence. He is founding co-chair of Liberal Education and America’s Promise (LEAP), the Association of American Colleges & Universities’ national campaign to demonstrate the value of liberal education

Crutcher is also a distinguished classical musician. He currently performs in the U.S. and Europe as a member of The Klemperer Trio. He serves on the board of the Richmond Symphony.
