UR Recognized for Innovation in Catering, Special Events, and Retail Sales
UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND — Dining Services at the University of Richmond has received three Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards from the National Association of College & University Food Services.
The Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards are the top professional tribute in college and university culinary arts, celebrating innovation in student-focused dining.
“These awards are a tribute to everyone in dining services, especially their dedication to supporting our students’ well-being and their ability to continually build on high standards of quality,” said Tyler Betzhold, executive director of dining services. “To be recognized nationally across the areas of catering, retail, and special events is an honor and highlights the versatility and commitment of our team.”
Dining Services received the following awards:

This category is awarded to a special event hosted by the university's catering department. UR won for their exceptional support at the Robins School of Business 75th Anniversary Celebration, which featured passed heavy hors d’oeuvres, a showcase of specialty meats, cheeses, and appetizers in elaborate charcuterie displays, and custom desserts.
Bronze for Residential Special Event
Dining Services received this award in recognition of the International Education Week Ghana dinner and their support of the student experience at UR. Guests enjoyed an expansive menu of Ghanaian foods, including puff puff, jollof rice, chicken mafe, and traditional abenkwan soup.
