The Thomas F. Jeffress and Kate Miller Jeffress Memorial Trust of Richmond has made one new award and one renewal award to University of Richmond chemistry faculty members.

Wade Downey, assistant professor of chemistry, received $20,000 for his research project, “Reaction Acceleration, Mediation and Catalysis by In Situ Silylation.” The grant will provide summer support for Downey and two undergraduate students, cover some supply costs, and fund travel for presenting results at local, regional or national conferences.

Kristine Nolin, assistant professor of chemistry, received a $10,000 continuation award for her project, “Development of New Desymmetrization Reactions: Catalytic Additions to Electron Deficient Cyclopanes.” The grant will provide summer support for Nolin and one undergraduate student.
