Jim Duncan

Jim Duncan is an adjunct instructor of liberal arts in the School of Professional & Continuing Studies, where he teaches courses on meteorology and climate.

He is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) by the American Meteorological Society (AMS), served as chief meteorologist for WWBT-TV in Richmond for 40 years, and currently provides meteorological consulting and forecasting services for media outlets across the region. Jim is a meteorologist/writer for the Washington Post Capital Weather Gang, contributing numerous stories related to weather and climate. He has an ongoing collaboration with the National Weather Service (NWS) in disseminating severe weather information to the public, and served with representatives of the NWS and the Department of Emergency Services as one of the founding members of Virginia's Severe Weather Awareness Week.
