Spalding weighs in on corruption issues

After United States federal prosecutors launched an investigation into a bribery and corruption scandal involving the international soccer federation, international attention builds. And media outlets are turning to Richmond Law Professor Andy Spalding for his perspective on the latest news surrounding the FIFA charges.

I suspect the dominoes are going to fall quickly,” he told the L.A. Times.

Al Jazeera consulted with Prof. Spalding, too: “It is not optimal for the United States to be taking the lead, ... but that it has is indicative of an international vacuum in anti-corruption enforcement.”

"Given the allegations that we've seen just in the papers, there seems little doubt who the payments went to and for what reason," he said in a conversation with the Associated Press.

And in an interview with USA Today, Spalding noted, "[Swiss football administrator] Sepp Blatter is the Lance Armstrong of soccer governance.”
