January 9, 2012

Anne Marie Morgan, adjunct professor of liberal arts in the School of Professional & Continuing Studies, recently co-edited a college-level textbook on Virginia history and government. The textbook, Governing Virginia, was released in December 2011.

Morgan co-edited the textbook with Dr. A. R. “Pete” Giesen, Jr., Vice President of Academic Affairs and an adjunct Professor of Political Science at James Madison University. Giesen represented the 10th, 15th, and 25th Districts in the House of Delegates from 1964-1996.

Morgan is the State Capitol Bureau Chief for Virginia Public Radio. She also served as a member and chair of the State Board for Community Colleges, governing 23 Virginia colleges on 40 campuses.

Morgan developed the text while teaching history and political science at the University of Richmond, and her students previewed and provided feedback on the text as it was finalized.
