On Saturday the Spiders faced the No. 19 nationally ranked University of Central Florida Knights. The UR men battled back and forth in the first period but ended the quarter down 5-3 on goals by sophomore midfielder Doug Slaughter (Baltimore, Md./St.Pauls) unassisted; Nick Daniel (Fairfax, Va./Southern Lehigh) assisted by Slaughter; and another tally by Daniel unassisted.

The Spiders took control of the second, outscoring the Knights 5-1 to take an 8-6 lead into halftime on two goals by Palmer, along with single tallies by Hayden, Kraft, and freshman defensive midfielder Rob Poirier (Wausau, Wis./Wausau West).

The Spiders would take over the second half, taking a commanding 15-9 lead late into the fourth quarter before emptying the bench and ending the game with a 16-14 victory. Thirteen different Spiders had points on the day, including hat tricks from Palmer and Daniel. Will Harris (Weston, Mass./Weston) played well in the midfield all day and tallied his first goal of the year to go along with an assist. Freshman net minder Mike Buckbinder (Princeton Junction, N.J./Hun School) started the game with 6 saves in the first half, before giving way to McDevitt, who posted 10 second half saves. Freshman defender Brain Topper (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) led the team with 8 ground balls.
