Author, former Navy SEAL officer Eric Greitens to speak at March 27 "Ethics of Assassination" symposium

Former Navy SEAL officer Eric Greitens, author of the New York Times best-seller “The Heart and the Fist: The Education of a Humanitarian, the Making of a Navy SEAL,” will deliver the keynote lecture at the “Ethics of Assassination” symposium on March 27, 7 p.m., at University’s Jepson Alumni Center.

The talk is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

Greitens served as the commander of a Joint Special Operations Task Unit, commander of a Mark V Special Operations Craft Detachment and commander of an al-Qaida Targeting Cell. His military awards include the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

As the founder-CEO of the nonprofit organization The Mission Continues, which serves wounded veterans, he was recognized as one of the most innovative leaders in America.

He was appointed by the president to serve as a White House fellow in 2005. The White House Fellowship is a nonpartisan, nonpolitical appointment that is considered America’s most prestigious fellowship for leadership and public service.

The symposium is sponsored by the University’s Jepson School of Leadership Studies and co-sponsored by the Philosophy, Politics, Economics and Law (PPEL) program. It is funded by a grant from the Richard Davoud Donchian Foundation.
