Cultural Enrichment students conclude Professional & Social Etiquette program with dinner at The Jefferson

March 26, 2012

Six au pairs in the School of Professional & Continuing Studies Cultural Enrichment program—from Poland, Germany, Brazil, Mexico and France—joined SPCS staff and instructors in the culminating dinner of the Professional & Social Etiquette program.

The dinner, hosted by TJs at The Jefferson in Richmond, was held December 10, 2011. Program coordinator Mary Catherine Raymond and instructors Dorothy Holt, Patricia Gallagher and Deborah Westin accompanied the au pairs.

The dinner concluded the final class session of the Professional & Social Etiquette course, part of the School’s Cultural Enrichment program for au pairs and others new to the United States.

The Professional & Social Etiquette course is designed “to introduce important business and communication skills, and to increase cultural awareness while in the U.S.”

The School’s Cultural Enrichment and ESL & TOEFL Preparation programs work together to provide au pairs, new immigrants and non-native English speakers the tools needed to successfully adapt to American culture and conventions.
