Dr. Lionel Mew appointed assistant professor of Information Systems

Dr. Lionel Mew has been appointed by the School of Professional & Continuing Studies as Assistant Professor of Information Systems and program coordinator of the School’s Professional Studies core.

Mew comes to the University of Richmond from Dianjiang Kids International, a non-profit organization that works to improve the lives of children at Dianjiang and other Chinese orphanages, where he serves as Director of Strategic Planning.

Mew has extensive military experience, including service as a naval flight officer with over 1,300 hours flying E-2C Hawkeye Airborne Early Warning aircraft and as a Marine Safety Officer with the United States Coast Guard.

Since 2003, he has served as adjunct professor for the American University and George Washington University in information systems, project management, organizational behavior, and information technology. He has an extensive number of scholarly publications and research projects.

Mew holds a Ph.D. in Information and Decision Systems from The George Washington University (GWU), an M.S. in Information Systems from GWU, and a B.S. in Physical Science from the United States Naval Academy.

Mew will begin work in the School on August 1, 2012.
