May 22: University of Richmond team wins Department of Education's College Net Price Calculator Student Video Challenge

A University of Richmond team of 2012 graduates Justin (Michael) Kirby of Aylett, Va., Bilyana Petrova of Varna, Bulgaria and Remo Kommnick of Newbrandenburg, Germany, and rising sophomore John Remmes of Rockland, Mass., were one of three teams that won the U.S. Department of Education’s College Net Price Calculator Student Video Challenge.

College and high school students participated in the competition, which challenged them to create videos that explain net price calculators and their importance. Earlier this year, colleges were required to put the tool on their websites to help prospective students understand the true cost of attending each college. Winning teams received $1,500.

The team created the video as a project for their Robins School of Business senior economics capstone seminar, taught by Dean Croushore, professor and chair of economics.
