E-newsletter for Parents of Sophomore Students

August 17, 2012

The Office of Student Development provides the Richmond Parents e-newsletter to reach out to parents like you throughout the academic year, and connect you with University offices that offer support for your student(s).

In this issue for parents of sophomore students, Dr. Joe Boehman, dean of Richmond College, discusses a phenomenon known as the "sophomore slump"—a period in a student's academic career, usually during his or her second year of college, when the newness and excitement of college wears off and the pressures associated with demanding schedules, declaring a major, and establishing an identity sink in. You'll learn about the struggles your student might face during this temporary period and how you can best offer support.

Be sure to visit our website for parents for more information about upcoming dates and deadlines, whom to contact with questions, and how to submit a topic for a future edition of the Richmond Parents e-newsletter.
