Liberal Arts program coordinator accepted into online course at the Medici Archive Project

April 26, 2013

Dr. Christine Contrada, assistant professor and program coordinator, liberal arts, was accepted to the Online Paleography Course 2013 at the Medici Archive Project. The online course is held February 4-April 26, 2013.

The course is designed to furnish participants with basic skills for reading historical manuscript materials from the late 15th- to 17th-century Tuscany. The course enrollment was limited to 20 students with priority given to graduate students, post-graduate scholars and professionals with relevant scholarly interests.

Contrada is a scholar of the Italian Renaissance. Her doctoral research explored the civic virtues and activities of women in 15th-century Florence and “challenges the argument that the cardinal virtues, as described by humanists..., were models of behavior that only men adhered to.”
