International Film: The Missing Picture

September 22, 2014
The Missing Picture, a 2013 film from Cambodia, is the September 26 and 28 feature for the International Film Series. Director Rithy Panh uses his innovative storytelling method in this documentary to create a personal reflection and historical study of the atrocities committed upon the people during the Khmer Rouge regime. Only propaganda footage remains from the recorded artifacts from this era. Panh uses beautifully detailed, sculpted clay figurines and elaborate dioramas to recreate the missing images from his memory. The Missing Picture is the first Cambodian film ever to be nominated for an Academy Award.
