Dr. Joanna Wares, Assistant Professor of Mathematics

In collaboration with researchers from McGuire-Woods Veterans Hospital and Virginia Commonwealth University, Dr. Kathy Hoke and Dr. Joanna Wares in the Math and Computer Science Department are developing a tool that will help clinicians accurately diagnose mild traumatic brain injuries (concussions). Attend “The Visible Scholar” program on Thursday January 21 at 4 p.m. and learn about the measures and methods they are using to assist combat-exposed veterans who have or have not sustained brain injuries.

Taking place in an open venue in the library, “The Visible Scholar Series” provides a space for informal faculty talks on new publications. Student, staff and faculty can listen and view a “scholar in action."
