SPCS celebrates faculty promotions & service awards at annual ceremony

February 3, 2020

Faculty in the School of Professional & Continuing Studies celebrated promotion announcements and service awards during the annual awards ceremony held during the spring faculty meeting on January 10, 2020.

Prior to celebrating the accomplishments of the School’s faculty, the meeting featured comments from Associate Dean for Academic & Student Affairs Tom Shields and Dean Jamelle Wilson, along with a presentation on Helping Emotionally Distressed Students by Katie Mahan, a counselor from the University’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).

Dean Wilson highlighted progress on the School’s ongoing progress on the strategic plan, and Associate Dean Tom Shields introduced two new adjunct faculty members: Dr. Candice Hunter, HR Management, and Dr. Adria Scharf, Nonprofit Studies.

Shields and Wilson presided over the announcement of service awards, followed by Shields and Wilson announcing the winner of the SPCS Innovations in Teaching Award. The winner, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Education Karen Richardson, was recognized by students for integration of learning technologies in the classroom.

The annual awards ceremony is traditionally held during the spring faculty meeting. Promotions along with service awards in five-year increments are announced and celebrated during the ceremony. Promotions and awards are listed below.
