July 24, 2020

The University of Richmond has launched Work Positive, a coach training partnership with Work.Positive’s Dr. Joey Faucette dedicated to helping front-line employees and managers build more positive workplaces in their organizations. The partnership is offered through the School of Professional & Continuing Studies through its Professional Education programs.

Work Positive instruction is provided by internationally renowned coach trainers Dr. Joey Faucette and Jane Creswell, Master Certified Coach. Faucette — or Dr. Joey, as he’s affectionately called — is the #1 best-selling author of Work Positive in a Negative World and architect of the Work Positive framework. Creswell is the founder of the IBM Coaches Network and a consultant who helps companies worldwide develop a long-term, self-sustaining system of internal coaching. A national network of coaches assists in mentoring students in advanced coaching practices.

The UR Work Positive program consists of three programs of study focused on developing sustainable, positive workplaces.

7 Keys to Work Positive is a 7-week online program that provides a foundational approach to positive work culture. Based on the best-selling book Work Positive in a Negative World, the course focuses on a collaborative work environment. It applies to all levels of an organization, from the front line to the executive suite. Students can start the online program at any time.

The Work Positive Manager Coach Training Certificate is a 6-month online program that builds on the foundation of 7 Keys to Work Positive. The course teaches basic coaching skills for managers to help them create a more positive work environment. Rooted in organizational development, coaching training, and cognitive and group psychology, the certificate encourages “coaching for results” to help managers develop a collaborative environment. Students can start the online program at any time.

Get Positive Coach Training is a yearlong International Coaching Federation (ICF) approved certification program for coaches seeking to earn the ICF Associate Certified Coach credential. The program is designed for organizational leaders seeking to develop and coach a positive, collaborative workplace. The program consists of 6 asynchronous modules and 32 synchronous modules, all offered remotely. Annual start dates for courses will be announced in the near future.

The Work Positive partnership expands the School’s existing Professional Education coursework and programming for managers and executives. Work Positive’s online learning management system and use of synchronous video conferencing provides a robust, effective and easy-to-use remote learning experience, ensuring that coaching and mentoring can occur regardless of our campus status during the COVID-19 pandemic. And Work Positive’s focus on nurturing positive workplaces aligns perfectly with the School’s mission to enrich lives and careers.
