Foundation president to speak at Nov. 15 Crimmel Colloquium

Michael S. McPherson, president of the Chicago-based Spencer Foundation, will speak about “Leadership and the Liberal Arts” at the 2011 Hays and Margaret Crimmel Colloquium, Nov. 15, 3:30 p.m., at the University of Richmond’s Carole Weinstein International Center. The lecture is free and open to the public.

McPherson is a former president of Macalester College, former dean of the faculty at Williams College, and a scholar of economics and philosophy. He is an expert in the economics of higher education and college financial aid. At the foundation, he oversees a program of grants for educational research to create new ideas for improving students’ lives and enriching society.

The event is sponsored by the Hays and Margaret Crimmel Endowment and the Office of the Provost.
