SPCS adjunct professor publishes Virginia government textbook

January 12, 2012

Anne Marie Morgan, an adjunct professor of political science in the University of Richmond’s School of Professional and Continuing Studies, has co-edited a textbook, “Governing Virginia,” which describes Virginia’s politics and government through the centuries.

The textbook traces Virginia’s contributions to governing principles in the United States and the world. Chapters discuss Virginia’s political transformation and how the state’s government works today. “Governing Virginia” can be used as a textbook for courses about Virginia government, as a supplementary text for general courses about American or state government, or as an informational book about the commonwealth. The book’s contributors include five former governors, current and former legislators, and other state leaders.

Morgan has been a broadcast journalist for many years and is the State Capitol bureau chief for Virginia Public Radio. At the university, she received the Distinguished Faculty Award. She also served as a member and chair of the State Board for Community Colleges, which oversees 23 Virginia community colleges on 40 campuses.
