Career Development Center hires communications manager, creates internship manager position

The University of Richmond’s Office of Alumni and Career Services has hired Diana Burkett as communications manager and promoted Katybeth Lee to the new position of manager of internship programs.

Burkett, of Goochland County, will oversee the planning, development and implementation of integrated communications for the office. She previously worked at the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (formerly Pew Center on Global Climate Change) as senior project coordinator of Make an Impact, an employee engagement program. She received a bachelor’s degree in international studies and German from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and a master’s in public relations from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Lee, of Henrico County, was assistant director of career development for six years, earning the university’s Advisor Excellence Award in 2009. In her new role, she will manage the internship application process, establish metrics for the program and assist students in understanding their roles and responsibilities related to their internships.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in religion from The College of William & Mary and a master’s degree in higher education from The Ohio State University.
