NPR's Susan Stamberg to discuss her career as cultural correspondent at Nov. 13 Crimmel Colloquium

Susan Stamberg, special correspondent and former anchor of for National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered,” will speak about her award-winning broadcasting career at the annual Hays and Margaret Crimmel Colloquium on Liberal Education Nov. 13 at the University of Richmond.

Stamberg’s talk, “Considering All Things: My Life as a Cultural Correspondent,” takes place at 4 p.m. in Jepson Alumni Center, Robins Pavilion. It is free and open to the public, but reservations are required online at spcs.richmond.edu/crimmel.

Stamberg has been with NPR since its founding in 1971. The following year, she began a 14-year tenure as co-host of “All Things Considered.” She subsequently hosted “Weekend Edition Sunday,” and now serves as guest host and cultural issues reporter on “Morning Edition” and “Weekend Edition Saturday.”

A member of both the Broadcasting and Radio halls of fame, she has written two books about her career in broadcasting and co-edited an anthology that grew out of stories she originally commissioned for “Weekend Edition Sunday.”

A native of New York City, Stamberg holds a bachelor’s degree from Barnard College and has received numerous honorary degrees.

The colloquium is funded by the Hays and Margaret Crimmel Endowment and the university’s Office of the Provost. In recognition of its 50th anniversary, the School of Professional and Continuing Studies hosts this year’s Crimmel Colloquium.
