Robins Stadium design wins award of excellence for BCWH Architects

October 24, 2013

For their design of the University of Richmond’s E. Claiborne Robins Stadium, BCWH Architects has won a 2013 Award of Excellence in Architecture from the Virginia Society of the American Institute of Architects.

The award is in the Contextual Design category, which honors “outstanding architecture that perceptibly reflects the history, culture and physical environment of the place in which it stands and that, in turn, contributes to the function, beauty and meaning of its larger context,” according to VSAIA.

Robins Stadium opened in September 2010 at a cost of approximately $28 million. It seats 8,700 and is used for football, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s lacrosse, and women’s track and field events.

The award will be presented during VSAIA’s annual conference, Architecture Exchange East, in November.
