University adds eight members to Career Services Advisory Council; they will consult on career best practices

The University of Richmond’s Office of Alumni and Career Services has named eight new members to serve on its 16-member Career Services Advisory Council.

The council advises the university about career-related best practices for serving students and alumni. This year’s focus on outlining competencies students should possess to be successful in the workplace will inform future career development initiatives. The council will also be developing recommendations about how to engage employers more effectively to create or sustain mutually beneficial recruitment partnerships.

Wendy Stoner from the U.S. General Services Administration in Washington, D.C., will serve as the council’s chair.

The new members include:

Pam Angle of Winston-Salem, N.C., vice president, Senior Leadership Development Program recruiter, BB&T

Dana Cronyn of Washington, D.C., recruitment manager, Teach for America

Mark Hickman, a 2007 University of Richmond graduate of Richmond, program manager, Government & Community Affairs, Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce

Patricia Kempe of Richmond, analyst recruiter, Harris Williams & Company

Kay Lawson of Richmond, SVP/director of recruiting, The Martin Agency

Chelsea Sopko of Richmond, human resources manager, MeadWestvaco

Emily Thumma, a 2006 University of Richmond graduate of Richmond, manager of talent acquisition, Health Diagnostic Laboratory

Anna White of Arlington, Va., recruiting specialist, CEB.
