Lecture focusing on tensions in Asia and Europe to be held Oct. 14

Dr. Yu-shan Wu, considered one of the most accomplished professors in the Chinese-speaking world, will lecture on, “Tensions in East Asia and Eastern Europe: A Global Perspective” at the University of Richmond Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. in the Brown-Alley Room, Weinstein Hall.

The lecture will focus on the similarities between the territorial disputes between China and other Asian nations over resource-rich islands and between the Western world and Russia over Eastern Ukraine. Admission is free and open to the public.

Dr. Wu is a Distinguished Research Fellow and director of Institute of Political Science at Academia Sinica, the top research institute in Taiwan, as well as a professor of political science at the National Taiwan University. He is an expert in the fields of Asian and Eastern European politics and is credited with more than 70 scholarly articles, 17 books and 55 book chapters.
