San Diego native spends summer as marketing and advertising intern through summer fellowship program
Lindsay Stevens, ‘18, of San Diego, is interning at the Marketing & Advertising Design (M.A.D) Group through the University of Richmond’s Summer Fellowship (URSF) program.
The M.A.D. group assists small businesses with branding, website creation, advertising, social media and more to help develop a desired public image and increase business.
Stevens is an interdisciplinary studies major, which allowed her to create her own focus in strategic marketing and communications. She is minoring in leadership studies.
She spends her days at her internship heading a major marketing project with a local San Diego company, providing advice to companies looking to recreate their brand, developing social media content and learning how to use design software.
“I love that my work is highly intellectual but also intensely creative. It relates perfectly to my future plans of going into marketing,” says Stevens. “I love all the learning I get to do on a daily basis, and doing so in a real world environment has been incredible.”
This summer, hundreds of UR students are completing summer fellowships through The Richmond Guarantee, a University promise to provide a fellowship for at least one summer research or internship experience for all traditional undergraduate students.
“The URSF program is genius. It opens up a world of opportunity for internship positions and ultimately increases the likelihood of receiving a job out of college,” Stevens says. “I cannot say enough about what a privilege it is to attend a university that gives students such a unique opportunity.”
