University of Richmond receives gold recognition for fit-friendly worksite by the American Heart Association

February 16, 2016

The American Heart Association awarded the University of Richmond with recognition as a Gold Fit-Friendly Worksite.

Gold-level worksites must fulfill certain physical, nutritional and cultural criteria, including offering employees physical activity support, increasing healthy eating options at work and promoting a wellness-oriented environment. Workplaces must also have a minimum of 25 employees.

The university program “URWell EMPLOYEE” takes a holistic approach to the wellness of its faculty, and incorporates expertise from the offices of human resources and recreation and wellness. The program offers specific tips, information and support for the campus community to live well.

“We really care about our employees, and strive to create a culture of wellness that can keep them healthy and happy,” said Heather Sadowski, UR’s assistant director of wellness.

“This honor reflects just one of the many reasons why the University of Richmond is such a wonderful place to work,” she added.
