UR Announces Slate for 30th Anniversary of International Film Series
The University of Richmond will kick off its 30th season of the International Film Series Sept. 6. The series offers Richmond audiences access to 13 screenings of expert-curated, contemporary, and classic films from around the world, uniquely paired with commentary and audience discussion.
Free and open to the public, all films are screened in their original language with English subtitles. Friday afternoon screenings feature live introductions and UR faculty-led post-film discussion.
This year’s films include:
- The Other Side of Hope (Finland/Germany), Sept. 6 and 7
- Brasileirinho (Finland/Brazil/Switzerland), Sept. 13 and 14
- Félicité (Senegal/France), Sept. 20 and 21
- Rouge (Hong Kong) Sept. 27 and 28
- Perfect Strangers (Italy), Oct. 4 and 5
- The Silence Before Bach (Spain), Oct. 25 and 26
- Faces Places (France), Nov. 15 and 16
The series also includes the annual African Film Weekend, which will screen six additional films that explore South Africa from Nov. 9 to 11.
Unless otherwise noted, Thursday evening screenings take place in Jepson Hall, Room 118. Friday screenings take place in the Robins School of Business, Ukrop Auditorium.
