Bargain Shoppers Rejoice: UR's Big Yard Sale is Back in Business

May 14, 2019

University of Richmond’s annual Big Yard Sale is Saturday, May 18, from 8 a.m. to noon at Robins Stadium.

A bargain shopper’s paradise, the sale offers thousands of gently-used items from appliances and furniture to clothing and art, all donated by students during move-out week.

“The Big Yard Sale saves thousands of pounds of waste from heading to the landfill each year,” says Rob Andrejewski, director of sustainability. “We also use this event to educate our community about responsible waste reduction.”

The sale is divided between the two concourses at Robins Stadium:

  • East Concourse: small appliances and household items such as, mini refrigerators, microwaves, televisions, lamps, bookcases, shelves, and small tables
  • West Concourse: books, linens, clothes, shoes, décor, electronics, kitchenware, and more

Proceeds from the sale benefit University of Richmond student sustainability groups and the Falls of the James Group of the Sierra Club. Any leftover items are donated to Goodwill.

All transactions for the sale are cash or check only. Credit cards are not accepted.

Shoppers are encouraged to bring reusable bags and should plan to park across from Robins Stadium along College Road in parking lot C-70.
