The SPCS Graduate Education program hosted a non-partisan, community discussion titled “Virginia School Safety Reform” on Oct. 16, 2019, as part of the Graduation Education Speaker Series. The panel discussion focused on the recent shift toward mental health as an approach to school safety.
On February 28th in the Richmond Room, the departments of history, sociology & anthropology, and languages, literatures, and cultures hosted a scholarly conference entitled “Walls, Borders, and Partitions in Global Perspective.” The conference was held as part of this year’s Contested Spaces in which the 2019-20 focal point is “This Ground.”
Dr. Angela Leeper, director of the University’s Curriculum Materials Center (CMC) has organized efforts for children's book authors and illustrators to speak at the University of Richmond every semester since 2011. Her efforts provide professional enrichment to education students and connect the university and greater Richmond communities.
