Jon Kukla’s book, “A Wilderness So Immense: The Louisiana Purchase and the Destiny of America,” is one of three “boundary-pushing” books highlighted on NPR by David O. Stewart.

“The Louisiana Purchase was definitive proof that for President Thomas Jefferson, like the rest of us, it was far better to be lucky than good, and Jon Kukla in A Wilderness So Immense captures the sheer fortuity and significance of that event. Kukla is an adjunct instructor at the University of Richmond’s Jepson School of Leadership Studies.
